Project SEARCH Career Specialist
The Project SEARCH Career Specialist is responsible for providing on site vocational training, functional skill development, job development and job coaching to program interns enrolled in Project SEARCH and/or a competitive job. This position is a contributing member of the CORE team of professionals as determined by the Project SEARCH (PS) model. This position will provide services in a manner which allows each young adult to be treated with respect, dignity and allows for individual success.
•Provides individualized support for the PS Intern at the host business/ competitive worksite which includes: job coaching, (task analysis, job matching, etc.) building natural supports, identifying job accommodations and assistive technology, etc.
•Communicates effectively with Project SEARCH Supervisor, other Project SEARCH staff, employers, co-workers, family members, school personnel, funding sources, and other appropriate parties to address issues related to training and employment.
•Trains PS interns in the areas of grooming, hygiene, communication, interviewing, interpersonal skills and behavior as they relate to successful employment.
•Participates in decision making process to identify and implement training strategies and/or services with other Project SEARCH staff and host business staff.
•Adheres to and promotes the policies and standards of host business/ competitive worksite to promote job productivity and efficiency.
•Recognizes and acts on the legal responsibilities concerning the safety and welfare of the consumers.
•Maintains a safe and well organized work environment.
•Builds effective relationships with employers that will maximize an employee’s likeliness to be successful; including building natural supports within the workplace.
•Supports PS Interns with job seeking/development support/job coaching, which will assist them with obtaining and maintaining community employment.
•Provides opportunities for career exploration through job shadowing, business tours, work experiences, mock interviewing, resume development, etc.
•Provides the follow-up support, to both PS Interns and employers when a jobs are obtained, which ensures the highest possible satisfaction and success on the job.
•Completes and maintain all related documentation in accordance with the agency standard including; program evaluation data, monthly progress reports, employer contact logs, as well as any additional required documentation.
•Participates in assigned meetings, professional development, and training as required.

•Bachelors Degree in human services or related field required.
•A minimum of two (2) years experience working with individuals with disabilities required; vocational rehabilitation/job modification, food service, manufacturing, and/or retail experience preferred.
•Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
•Successful physical examination/TB test required, and must provide documentation of immunizations required to work in a hospital setting.
•Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
•Must have proof of insurance AND meet the requirements of the Employee Driving Policy.
•A Criminal Background Check must meet the requirements of the State of WI licensure for day programming.
Project SEARCH Instructor at UCHealth Colorado
ABOUT THE JOB: Project SEARCH is an employment training program for students with developmental disabilities. This Project SEARCH teaching position is based at UCHealth Colorado Hospital in Aurora, Colorado. The position is funded and supervised by the Special Education department at Jefferson County Public Schools, Golden, Colorado.
SUMMARY: Develop, implement, and support individualized practices for achieving learning outcomes for students with significant communication, cognitive, and/or social/behavioral needs, based on the requirements of Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA). Utilize evidence-based best practice and rely on frequent progress monitoring for programming adjustments. Take a leadership role in collaboratively problem solving interventions for students in Jeffco transition programs. An essential part of this position is to effectively organize and coordinate the responsibilities of multiple adults in educational and community environments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Design and implement specialized instruction.
Develop community opportunities for young adults that are designed to help them transition into productive working and living environments.
Instruct students in all areas of their IEP as directed; implementing and providing support for individual student schedules.
Conduct IEP and referral meetings, conferences, develop a multidisciplinary approach to the educational enhancement of the student.
Maintain on-going communication with transition team, students and parents.
Create a safe, supportive and understanding environment for young adults with disabilities.
Complies with Special Education and district policies and procedures (e.g., Medicaid billing, accident reporting).
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Hold valid Colorado teaching license with Special Education Generalist endorsement.
EXPERIENCE: Experience/supervised internship in working with severely/profound cognitively disabled children. Understanding/interpreting educational assessments and prescriptive teaching. Experience with developing appropriate materials, facilitating inclusion, creating and designing and implementing behavioral plans. Background in working with students with toilet training, and in working with students in wheelchairs, students with seizure disorders, and other physical disabilities. Training emphasis in LD/PC preferred.
